Rocca di Montegrossi - winery in Gaiole in Chianti
CHIANTI CLASSICO
Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi, a scion of the family that scripted the saga of Chianti Classico's terroir, presides over Rocca di Montegrossi—a fortress erected in the VII-VIII century by Geremia, the progenitor of the Ricasoli lineage. At present, the winery crafts five distinct wines: three reds, one rosé, and one luscious dessert wine. The vineyards predominantly feature varietals traditionally associated with Chianti, with Sangiovese taking the lead, complemented by Merlot. Additionally, a small percentage is dedicated to international varietals such as Canaiolo, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pugnitello, and Malvasia Bianca, flourishing in the heart of Chianti Classico.
