La Fornace is a small, family-run winery in the heart of Montalcino with roots reaching back to the 1400s, when the estate was originally a brick kiln. The modern chapter began in 1964, when Giuseppe purchased the property after a lifetime of sacrifice as a sharecropper.

Today, his grandchildren Fabio and Laura proudly carry on the legacy, crafting quality wines from 4.5 hectares of vineyards and producing extra-virgin olive oil from the estate’s groves. Only about 15,000 bottles are made each year, the result of meticulous vineyard care and thoughtful ageing in oak barrels—each step personally overseen by Fabio, a winemaker who blends ancient traditions with modern techniques.

Fabio and Laura love welcoming our guests, sharing the family history and guiding tastings of their wines, always accompanied by generous platters of local cold cuts—and, for those who wish, a final sip of grappa to end the visit on a high note!
