La Collina dei Venti
SAN GIMIGNANO
Just a few minutes from the medieval towers of San Gimignano, La Collina dei Venti is a young, family-run winery with deep roots in the local countryside. Although the estate began bottling its own wines only recently, the family's connection to this land stretches back generations. In 1967, Emilio purchased the farmhouse and surrounding vineyards he had long worked as a sharecropper, laying the foundations for what would become today's estate. Since 2011, the winery has been led by Mauro and his son Lorenzo, who have embraced organic farming and a natural, terroir-driven approach to winemaking.
The vineyards are cultivated according to certified organic principles, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity and the health of the soil. Fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention in the cellar, allowing the native grape varieties—especially Vernaccia di San Gimignano—to express their true character. The result is a collection of vibrant, mineral wines that capture the essence of this unique corner of Tuscany.
What makes a visit to La Collina dei Venti so memorable is its genuine family atmosphere. Lorenzo is passionate about sharing both the practical and philosophical side of organic viticulture, taking guests through the vineyards and cellar before finishing with a tasting overlooking the rolling Tuscan countryside and the iconic skyline of San Gimignano.
A visit here is an opportunity to experience the new generation of Tuscan winemaking—where respect for tradition meets innovation, sustainability and a heartfelt commitment to preserving the remarkable terroir of San Gimignano.
