Cigliano di Sopra - winery in Chianti Classico
CHIANTI CLASSICO
Matteo Vaccari and Maddalena Fucile are two young yet highly experienced winemakers with a deep-rooted passion for their craft. After earning their degrees in Viticulture and Enology from the University of Florence in 2017, they refined their skills at some of the finest wineries in Chianti. Their journey then took them to the United States, where they worked in California and Oregon, further expanding their expertise in winemaking.
Eventually, Maddalena returned to her family estate, Cigliano di Sopra, located in the northernmost part of Chianti Classico. Together with Matteo, she undertook the restoration of the estate’s historic vineyards, embracing organic and biodynamic farming practices. Today, they cultivate seven hectares of vines on sandy-clay soils rich in limestone. Every grape is hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged in wood, preserving the authenticity of their terroir-driven wines.
Beyond winemaking, Cigliano di Sopra is also a charming Agriturismo, offering cozy apartments and delicious homemade meals, providing guests with an authentic taste of Tuscan hospitality.
