Tenuta Carobbio
CHIANTI CLASSICO
Hidden within the celebrated Conca d'Oro of Panzano in Chianti, Tenuta Carobbio is a historic estate where centuries of Tuscan heritage meet a contemporary pursuit of excellence. The property dates back to the 15th century and was once entrusted to Antonmaria Gherardini, father of Lisa Gherardini—the woman believed to have inspired Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. After falling into decline, the estate was lovingly restored by the Novarese family, who transformed it into one of the rising stars of Chianti Classico while preserving its remarkable historical character.
Today, the family continues to manage the estate with an uncompromising focus on quality. Set among approximately fifty hectares of vineyards, olive groves and woodland, the vineyards benefit from the exceptional terroir of Panzano's natural amphitheatre, where galestro and alberese soils, warm afternoon sunshine and cool nights produce wines of outstanding elegance and complexity.
Carobbio's philosophy combines respect for Chianti Classico tradition with a spirit of creativity. Alongside beautifully crafted Chianti Classico and Chianti Classico Riserva, the estate is renowned for its impressive single-vineyard wines, including Leone (100% Sangiovese), Pietraforte (Cabernet Sauvignon) and Magaldo (Merlot). Each wine is produced with meticulous attention to detail, balancing freshness, structure and remarkable ageing potential.
A visit to Tenuta Carobbio is a journey through both history and the heart of Chianti Classico. From its historic buildings and atmospheric ageing cellars to the breathtaking views across the Conca d'Oro, the estate offers an unforgettable experience where centuries of tradition, family passion and exceptional wines come together in one of Tuscany's most beautiful landscapes.
