Cappella Sant'Andrea

SAN GIMIGNANO

Just outside the medieval towers of San Gimignano, Cappella Sant'Andrea is a charming family-run organic winery where hospitality is every bit as memorable as the wines. Owners Flavia and Francesco welcome guests with genuine warmth and infectious enthusiasm, sharing not only their wines but also their passion for the land, their family history and the remarkable story of Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

The traditional Tuscan farmhouse has been lovingly restored while preserving its authentic character. Inside, the tasting room offers a journey into the area's rural past, decorated with historic farming tools, family photographs and reminders of a simpler agricultural life. Outside, vineyards share the landscape with chickens, goats, horses and mules, creating a vibrant mixed farm that perfectly reflects the family's commitment to sustainable, organic agriculture.

In both the vineyard and the cellar, the philosophy is one of minimal intervention and maximum respect for nature. The vines are cultivated according to certified organic principles, fermentations rely on indigenous yeasts whenever possible, and the wines are allowed to clarify naturally through time rather than heavy filtration. The estate also produces a remarkable amphora-aged Vernaccia, matured in handcrafted terracotta vessels from nearby Impruneta, offering a fascinating interpretation of Tuscany's historic white grape.

The result is a collection of Vernaccia di San Gimignano wines that beautifully combine purity, texture and minerality, consistently ranking among the appellation's finest examples. A visit to Cappella Sant'Andrea is more than a tasting—it's an opportunity to experience the passion of a young family dedicated to preserving one of Tuscany's oldest wine traditions while producing wines of exceptional character and authenticity.
