Montecalvi - winery in Greve in Chianti
CHIANTI CLASSICO
Montecalvi is a petite, organic winery nestled in the heart of Chianti, situated in the rolling hills of Greve in Chianti, just 20 km south of Florence. The estate faces southwest and spans 10 hectares, with four hectares dedicated to vineyards and olive trees. The vineyards include four small plots, one of which was planted in 1932 on terraces of dry stone walls, situated at an altitude of approximately 300 meters above sea level, mainly on sandstone-derived soil. Montecalvi's wine portfolio features three red wines – Chianti Classico, San Piero, and Vigna Vecchia (or ‘VV’). Additionally, be on the lookout for their newly introduced white wine – Vermentino (or ‘V’). The property was owned by the Bolli family for two generations until the Drake family took over Montecalvi in 2017. The Drakes are committed to upholding the traditional farming methods and practices established by the Bollis.
