Grattamacco - winery in Bolgheri
BOLGHERI
The winery was among the pioneers in the esteemed Bolgheri region, carving a niche for itself. Positioned on a hill overlooking the sea at an altitude of 100 meters, between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, it has undergone changes in ownership since its humble beginnings and is now in the hands of siblings Tipa, who initially ventured into winemaking with the Collemassari winery in Montecucco. Their recent acquisition includes the prestigious Poggio di Sotto winery in Montalcino. Grattamacco spans 25 hectares, cultivating white Vermentino, along with reds such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Setting it apart from many Bolgheri wineries, Grattamacco's elevated vineyards are unique, making it one of the few places where Sangiovese is predominantly found. This winery has consistently led the way in Bolgheri, not only for producing wines that rival the best in the region but also for its commitment to sustainability and organic practices.
