Castello della Paneretta

CHIANTI CLASSICO

Rising majestically above the vineyards of Chianti Classico, Castello della Paneretta is one of Tuscany's most enchanting wine estates. Steeped in history, the castle has witnessed centuries of noble families, political intrigue and the long rivalry between Florence and Siena. In 1984, the estate entered a new chapter when it was acquired by the Albisetti family, who restored both the castle and its vineyards, laying the foundations for the wines that have earned Paneretta its outstanding reputation today.

The family's philosophy is firmly rooted in tradition. The vineyards are farmed organically, with a strong focus on native Tuscan grape varieties led by Sangiovese. In the cellar, modern technology takes a back seat to time-honoured winemaking practices, allowing the character of the fruit and the unique terroir of Barberino Val d'Elsa to take centre stage. The resulting Chianti Classico wines are elegant, balanced and unmistakably authentic.

A visit to Castello della Paneretta is as much about history as it is about wine. Guests are guided through the vineyards and winery before descending into the atmospheric ageing cellars beneath the castle, where rows of oak barrels rest within centuries-old stone walls. Along the way, the family's approach to viticulture and winemaking is explained in detail, offering a fascinating insight into the journey from vine to bottle.

The experience concludes in one of the castle's beautiful historic rooms, where visitors enjoy a seated tasting of several estate wines, often including carefully matured older vintages that demonstrate the remarkable ageing potential of Chianti Classico. Combining medieval architecture, rich Tuscan history and exceptional wines, Castello della Paneretta offers one of the most memorable winery experiences in Chianti Classico.
