Il Rio is a tiny winery in the Mugello, the mountains north of Florence. This area was always considered to cool for winemaking, until Paolo got the idea to make wine and a friend suggested he go for the Burgundy varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. So he did and with much perseverance and with help from Manuela who works the winery by his side, the winery now is famous for Tuscany's finest Pinot Noir. Truly hand crafted and beautiful wines.
